IATA Training to Boost Efficiency in Aviation Sector
Focus on Safety Awareness, Airline Revenue Management, Ground Operations Management and Dangerous Good Regulations.
Dubai: A significant partnership between Blue Ocean Academy, the region’s largest knowledge empowerment enterprise and the prestigious International Air Transport Association (IATA), has resulted in the launch of new IATA certified training courses that will reinforce the skills of professionals from the aviation sector and reinforce UAE’s position as a global aviation hub. On offer are a series of courses ranging from safety awareness, airline revenue management, ground operations management and dangerous good regulations. Blue Ocean is a respected name in the training industry and has tied with airports, airlines and travel agencies worldwide for placement assistance and internship opportunities for its students.
“The new IATA-training courses are crucial to bridge the gap between knowledge and infrastructure at a time when the UAE aviation industry is being fuelled by the development of the iconic Al Maktoum International Airports and the Dubai World Central along with the vibrant growth of the nation’s four flagship carriers : Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and FlyDubai,” highlighted Dr. Sathya Menon, Executive Director - Academics, Blue Ocean Academy.
This is a watershed agreement, one that will be very beneficial for UAE’s dynamic aviation sector and help the nation to export skilled professionals worldwide. The UAE aviation industry has already established itself as a key driver of the nation’s diversified economy in 2018. According to newspaper reports, UAE government is investing Dhs. 85 billion, in airport development and expansion, that will see its airports handle more than 300 million passengers every year. Currently, UAE has 14 airports, air strips, and air fields served by 113 airlines with a total annual take off and landings exceeding 540,000.
Close on the heels of the steady growth in infrastructure, arises the need for trained manpower and Blue Ocean has stepped in to train professionals to become experts in their field. “Blue Ocean will run public batches and corporate training programmes, that will not only put professionals in touch with the best practices in airports and airlines throughout the world, but also make them more tech-savvy, customer-friendly and efficient. They will get certified by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority and stand to earn an international diploma from the International Air Transport Association,” explained G. Rajagopalan, Programme Director Aviation, Blue Ocean Academy.
The IATA is a global trade association consisting of 290 airlines which accounts for major carriers, representing 117 countries. IATA’s member airlines carry approximately 82 per cent of the total available seat miles air traffic worldwide.
Blue Ocean has set the stage for the introduction of a slew of courses : IATA Airline Cabin Crew Training; Airline Revenue Management Training; Passenger Ground Services Training; Airport Ramp Services Training; Airport Operations Training; Ground Operation Management Training; Basic Air Side Safety Training; Aviation Security Awareness Training and Dangerous Goods Regulation (DGR) course. All Blue Ocean-IATA training courses will be available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Africa, India and other countries across the Mena region. “UAE will also be the seat of overseas students seeking opportunities in UAE’s growing aviation industry.
